CLINICS (Stag Medical Centre)

Antenatal Clinic

These clinics are run on Wednesdays and Thursdays in conjunction with our midwife and practice nurse. A doctor is available if required.

Child Health Clinic - Well Baby Clinic

2nd & 4th Wednesday in the month - Drs Abbey and McWhinnie run these clinic in conjunction with the health visitor and practice nurse and are for:

Child Immunisation (and parents if necessary) - Advice on general health and welfare (including baby weighing), Child Development Surveillance.

Well Woman Clinic

Thursday 2.00 - 3.30pm - Dr Abbey and practice nurse

For contraceptive advice Breast health awareness tuition
Cervical smear tests Menopause problems and hormone replacement therapy

Well Persons' Clinic (MOT)

Run by our practice nurses most days for advice about diet, smoking, alcohol, lifestyle, adult immunisation, hypertension and for urine and cholesterol checks as appropriate.

Minor Surgery

Tuesday 2.00 - 3.30pm Dr Proctor

Access to these clinics is by prior assessment and referral by the doctor.

Diabetic Clinic

These are held weekly between 2.00 and 4.00pm by a doctor or the practice nurse. Alternative appointments can be made.

Other Clinics

Ear care, anticoagulation monitoring and reheumatology monitoring all take place in the Medical Centre throughout the week. Clinics are also held with counsellors and the dietician. Access to these clinics is by referral from the doctor. There are also sessions to help patients to stop smoking both on an individual and group basis, plus health trainers to advise and help on having healthy lifestyle.

Run on most days, as at the Stag Medical Centre, by the practice nurses.

Diabetic Clinic

Flexible appointments available.

Child Health Clinic - Well Baby Clinic

1st & 3rd Wednesday in the month 2.00 - 3.30pm - Drs Abbey / McWhinnie. Run as at the Stag Medical Centre.

Other Services

Ear care, anticoagulation monitoring and rheumatology monitoring all take place at Rose Court throughout the week.

FAMILY PLANNING

We offer a full range of contraceptive services including fitting and checking IUCD (coils) and cap etc. All consultations are, of course, in complete confidence regardless of age or marital status and with the doctor of your choice.

TRAVEL CENTRE, INCLUDING YELLOW FEVER

The Stag Medical Centre is a fully recognised and appointed travel and yellow fever vaccination centre for all patients and not just those who belong to our practice. Yellow fever vaccinations can be given on most days of the week and appointments can be made by contacting one of the receptionists at the Stag Medical Centre. A charge is made for this some travel vaccinations.
